Job Responsibilities

The School of Physics and Astronomy at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the field of computational biophysics, focusing on organelle assembly. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Lishibanya Mohapatra, her research group, and collaborators to develop mathematical models and simulation paradigms to quantitatively analyze mechanisms used by living cells to (1) disassemble pre-existing structures and (2) assemble co-existing organelles within them. Duties include creating hypothesis-driven mathematical models that take into account the action of important organelle-specific cellular proteins and make predictions that can be experimentally tested, analyzing experimental data and images to gather model relevant information, conducting numerical and stochastic simulations and working with students and collaborators on scientific publications, and proposals. This position will be funded by National Institute of Health.
