The Opportunity

The Department of Nursing Practice in the College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer position to teach didactic nutrition courses for undergraduate programs. The nutrition course is a prerequisite course for undergraduate students from Nursing and other health-related disciplines. The position will be located on the UCF Orlando Campus and is expected to begin spring 2023.

The selected candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues from the College of Nursing, the College of Health Professions and Sciences, and other university colleges, remain actively involved in professional organizations, maintain scholarship in their field, and actively seek opportunities for and participate in College of Nursing faculty governance.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning, organizing, and delivering nutrition instruction in didactic, distance, hybrid, and/or classroom settings to promote student success.

• Supporting and promoting the College of Nursing and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.

• Collaborating with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.

• Student advisement and mentorship.

• Participating in planning, organizing, and developing curriculum for the Nursing Programs.

• Service to school and university committees.

• Assisting in evaluating and integrating nutritional content in other nursing courses.

Minimum Qualifications:

• For an instructor: An earned master’s degree in Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or closely related sciences from an accredited institution by date of hire.

• For a lecturer: An earned doctorate in Nutrition or a related discipline from an accredited institution by date of hire.

• Recent experience in teaching using online platforms.

• Recent undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience in nutrition or related fields (within the past 2 years).

Preferred Qualifications:

• A doctorate, Ph.D. or equivalent in nutrition or related sciences from an accredited institution.

• National professional certifications in nutrition or related sciences.

• Demonstrated commitment to student success and excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate education. 

• Demonstrated ability to incorporate instructional technologies in the classroom.

• Demonstrated scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations) and active participation in community and/or professional organizations. 

• Unencumbered current RN/APRN licensure in Florida with multistate licensure by date of hire.
