The Opportunity

The School of Social Work at the College of Health Professions and Sciences invites applications for one tenure-track assistant professor position. We are looking for a colleague who is committed to innovative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary research and publicly engaged scholarship; teaching excellence and student success; meaningful community engagement; and social justice, equity, and inclusivity. This will be a 9-month appointment with a projected start date of August 2023.

The School of Social Work is recognized regionally and nationally for the superior quality of its educational offerings and its contributions to clinical social work, health care, scholarship, and service to our community. The school has 34 full-time faculty, 14 staff, adjunct faculty, and over 900 students. We offer a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, a master’s degree in Social Work, and a Social Work track in the interdisciplinary Public Affairs Ph.D. program. There are face-to-face and online tracks in the MSW program. The school is home to the Center for Behavioral Health Research and Training (CBHRT), which leads collaborative research and training partnerships with mental health professionals, health care providers, and behavioral health researchers across Central Florida and beyond.

The College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) is home to three schools, one department, and six centers and institutes and is a leader in creating positive community change by building partnerships that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries. The college is a core member of the newly formed UCF Academic Health Sciences Center along with the existing Colleges of Nursing and Medicine. We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate effective engagement in an environment where colleagues and students come from many backgrounds and identities, as well as someone who can demonstrate commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching and research practices.

Minimum Qualifications

MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program and a Ph.D./DSW in Social Work or a related discipline from an accredited institution. ABD’s will be considered if degree is earned by the start of the appointment period.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A research agenda showing opportunities for collaboration with the CBHRT and faculty at UCF.

  • A publication record and current funding or evidence of potential for external funding.

  • Teaching experience in social work.

  • Two years of post MSW social work practice experience.
