Job Description Summary

The research specialist will program behavioral experiments, collect data, and analyze data. The position requires knowledge of Python, javascript or MatLab programming and data analysis skills (ideally R). The position requires supervising undergraduate research assistants and working closely with postdoctoral and graduate students’ research projects. The successful candidate will have opportunities for collaborating on publications and leading projects.

Job Description

The Developing Minds Lab at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time research assistant to assist in programming experiments, collecting data and analyzing data.  The research focuses on psychophysical investigations of numerical cognition using behavioral and eye tracking methods in children and adults.  There are opportunities for leading projects and co-authoring publications.

This position is ideal for students considering graduate school. Interested candidates should submit CV, cover letter indicating availability to start and names of two references. We will review applications on a rolling basis, with the goal of hiring someone by January 2023.

Position duties include, but not limited to;

- Program experiments

- Collect and analyze data

- Maintain and revise IRB protocols

- May entail interacting with school administrators to recruit schools into research

- May entail data collection in schools and museums with children

- Will entail close work with graduate students and postdocs and supervising undergraduates

Qualifications:

BA with 0 to 1 year of experience is required. Strong data analytical skills, as well as experience and knowledge of Python JavaScript or MatLab are required. Programming experience of some sort required - MatLab, JavaSCript, or Python). Data analysis skills and experience working with children would be advantageous.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
