Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry (full-time, tenure track)
The Department of Chemistry and the Center for Photochemical Sciences at Bowling Green State University invite applications from outstanding individuals to fill an interdisciplinary tenure-track Assistant Professor position at the interface of biochemistry and the photosciences.
Start date: August, 2023.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in biochemistry, including lectures and labs
- Teach graduate courses in the interdisciplinary Photochemical Sciences doctoral program, including instruction in areas such as photobiology, photochemistry, and special topics courses
- Initiate an independent research program aimed at the interfacial area between biochemistry and the photosciences that generates a high level of scholarly publication and provides research opportunities and training to both graduate and undergraduate students
- Actively seek and obtain external funding to sustain a research program
- Provide service to the department, college, and university, as well as to the profession
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline (e.g., Photochemical Sciences, Biophysics, etc.)
- Research experience in a biochemically related field that contributes to the Photochemical Sciences doctoral program
- One year of postdoctoral research experience
- Demonstrated record of research productivity as evidenced by multiple peer-reviewed journal publications
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of postdoctoral research experience
- Plan of research that complements the research of other Center faculty, particularly in the field of bioinorganic chemistry
- Experience teaching labs or lectures
