Job Summary:

The School of Science at Marist College is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, Lecturer in the Department of Biology, beginning August 2023. Minimum Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field.
• Enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates and evidence of excellent teaching or potential to develop into an excellent teacher.
• Desire and ability to engage in strategies to increase retention and student success in the life sciences.

Essential Functions:

The Biology Department seeks faculty committed to undergraduate teaching excellence at a comprehensive liberal arts institution that supports both liberal arts and professional programs. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be teaching 12 contact hours per week each semester, however they will also be interested in academic advising and willing to assist students with undergraduate research projects. Service to the College and beyond is also required. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field and a strong interest in evidence-based undergraduate science education. Strong preference will be given to candidates with prior college-level teaching experience who are knowledgeable regarding strategies to improve student retention in the sciences. The successful candidate should have the ability to teach introductory and upper division courses for biology majors, (e.g., immunology, and/or a senior-level biology capping course), as well as courses that support the College Core (general education) Curriculum. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Postdoctoral experience is preferred.
