Position Description
The Tollkuhn Laboratory at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island, New York is looking to hire a Research Technician to contribute to our research program on the actions of hormones on the brain. Our lab studies how hormone receptors regulate gene expression in the brain to influence sex-variable biology, behavior, and disease risk. We work at the interface between molecular biology and neuroscience and welcome applicants with interests in gene regulation, neurodevelopment, neural circuits, and innate behaviors. The initial primary duties will involve mouse colony maintenance, husbandry, and management (including genotyping); histology, tasks such as organizing laboratory databases, samples, and supplies; and generally providing support to help the graduate students and postdocs in the lab accomplish their research goals. Opportunities for advancement and the development of an independent research project are possible. Position Requirements
Qualifications: 
Education: BS/BA in biology, biomedicine, neuroscience, or related life science discipline is required.
Skills and experience: Applicants must be highly organized, self-motivated, have general laboratory experience, and be eager to succeed as part of a team. Previous experience with lab techniques and/or animal handling are a plus, but not required. We are looking for a candidate willing to learn new skills and work productively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a strong sense of integrity. A 2 year minimum commitment is required.
