Systems Administrator
Job Description
SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, Architecture, to be responsible for a range of applications, services, and solutions to support students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include incident response, problem management, endpoint management, project coordination, hardware/software/OS repair, and knowledge management; working with customers in person and remotely to identify issues and solutions and with vendors, development teams, and IS&T/MIT service owners on resolutions; and assisting with the implementation of new and/or supporting and maintaining existing administrative products/services.

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years’ experience supporting hybrid Window and Macintosh environments and with project and solutions implementation; experience supporting Mac, Windows, O365, iOS, Linux, and Android platforms and diagnosing/resolving problems across their software, hardware, and managed service product lines; experience with Microsoft PowerShell, Power Apps, Power Automate, Endpoint management services and tools (preferably SCCM, Casper, Active Directory, VMWare), and common IT ticketing platforms (preferably Service Now); strong diagnostic skills and working knowledge of current technology for resolving escalated customer complaints without management intervention; experience with Windows and Linux (Ubuntu or Solaris) server architecture and maintenance; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and experience with ITIL and Agile practices/methodologies. Must be able to leverage central, local, and third-party resources to find solutions; take ownership of and/or partner with teams in IS&T if necessary to resolve issues; coordinate/manage projects at scale; and work flexibly in a fast-paced environment. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field; working knowledge of IT standards/policies; experience with local and cloud-based virtualized servers; higher ed experience; and working knowledge of research computing practices.
