Precious Lamb Preschool Program Director (full-time)

Reports to: Executive Director

Precious Lamb Preschool (PL) is a 501(C)3 non-profit founded in 1999. For almost twenty years the agency has provided high-quality, faith-based early education to children experiencing homelessness in the greater Long Beach area. The children served range in age from 18 months to 5 years old. All are living in local shelters or transitional housing. At no cost to the parent, the children receive full-day education and care while parents are pursuing their education, employment, or housing. In some cases, parents are receiving mental health support. Precious Lamb has a unique 1:4 teacher to child ratio and has its own in-house food program. Support to the children and their parents is provided by skilled, credentialed early education teachers, and resource teachers. Additionally, social workers provide holistic care. Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for oversight and supervision of all center activities including, but not limited to: Staff supervision and development/evaluation, recruitment and enrollment of families, resource development, and program implementation. In addition, the Program Director will act as the liaison between specific community partners (ie. Shelters) and the center’s staff and families.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the daily operation of the child development program.

2. Ensures that the facility maintains compliance with licensing (Title 22) regulations.

3. Ensures that the facility maintains compliance with ECERS/ITERS and NAEYC standards.

4. Ensures compliance with Human Resource policies (ie: breaks, lunch waivers, etc).

5. Ensures compliance with Precious Lamb’s adult/child ratio.

6. Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and organized learning environment.

7. Participates in recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of new staff.

8. Responsible for new staff orientation and training.

9. Plans and implements staff development activities to support program goals.

10. Maintains clear documentation of assigned employee issues. These include, but are not limited to discipline meetings and staff/parent concerns, etc.

11. Prepares annual staff performance evaluations and meets with individual staff to discuss goals and objectives.

12. Coordinates substitute services.

13. Provides teacher coverage when needed.

14. Proactively maintains partnerships with organizations serving families experiencing homelessness in order to maintain maximum enrollment.

15. Plans and co-facilitates parent intakes, meetings, and events.

16. Maintains knowledge of current agency and industry policies, procedures, and programs.

17. Prepares and submits program report information as needed.

18. Responsible for expending assigned program funds in alignment with the annual budget.

19. Represents the agency at child care related community events and meetings.

20. Performs inventory control for program supplies and equipment, suggesting purchases when needed.

21. Maintains a professional attitude and a sense of ethical responsibility at all times.

22. Maintains parent engagement app (KangarooTime) and utilizes it to communicate with parents.

23. Oversees food program operations.

24. Coordinates and oversees classroom/program volunteers.

25. Works in collaboration with leadership team to ensure program goals are met.

The ideal candidate should possess:

1. Knowledge and experience in Developmentally Appropriate Practice.

2. Knowledge of Non-Violent Caregiving techniques. Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practices desired.

3. Experience working with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner.

4. Strong interpersonal and professional skills.

5. Excellent customer service skills (ie: interactions with families and community)

6. Maintains confidentiality and discretion.

7. Excellent written and oral communications skills.

8. Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

9. Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications:

1. BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field.

2. Site Supervisor Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Program Director Permit preferred.

3. CPR, First Aid Certification.

4. A minimum of three years supervising experience in a related field.

5. A minimum of three years teaching experience with children 0-5 years old.

Salary Range is $55,000 - $60,000 and is commensurate with education and experience

Benefits include: health coverage, flexible schedule, 4 weeks paid while PL is closed for breaks as well as up to 2 weeks of accrued vacation annually

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
