Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

Additional Department Summary: Postdoctoral positions are available at The University of Alabama to individuals with research interests. Individuals holding these positions are to conduct research with various faculty members on a variety of projects.

The University of Alabama seeks applications for Postdoctoral positions. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a field of research represented within the College.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge:

The candidate should have experience in multistep organic synthesis, systematic reaction optimization, 2D NMR spectroscopy, and the isolation, purification, and characterization of polar, drug-like molecules. A broad knowledge of synthetic organic transformations and transition metal-catalyzed reactions is expected. Experience in route scouting, reaction scale-up, asymmetric synthesis, and evaluating lead selection and optimization parameters is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D in Chemistry or Pharmacy
