Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Integrated Life Sciences (ILS) Program is a competitive Honors College program for STEM majors with a 2-year curriculum, research experience, and service requirement to complete an Honors Citation. 
The Assistant Director for Student Services manages: Advising, Community Building, Service-Learning, and Self-Care components of ILS

The major duties of the position include: designing and managing community-building; social and academic programming; coordinating HLSC100 and HLSC102; student advising; nourishing a culture of student wellness; recruitment, admission, and orientation of new students; supervising a Graduate Assistant, undergraduate HLSC100 Teaching Assistants, and student Office Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Master’s degree, preferably in the areas of student affairs or education. 

Experience:
  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience working with undergraduate students in an advisory or supervisory capacity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Candidates must be well organized, enjoy working in a collaborative team setting, and have the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects working with different campus partners and having different fixed deadlines.
  • The ability to be professional, effective, and collegial in working with a wide range of campus students, staff, faculty, and administrators as well as the general public.
  • The ability to work occasional nights and weekends.

Preferences:

Preferred Experience:
  • 3-5 years of success in advising, supervising, and teaching undergraduate students as well as demonstrated success in organizing small and large-scale events. 
  • Candidates with a background in student services or resident life are encouraged to apply.

Physical Demands

Majority of work is performed in an office environment, however, incumbent must be able to lift and transport meeting materials and handle set-up at events (tables, food, etc.), at off-site locations.
