Summary of Position
Keene State College seeks applications for a Student Engagement Specialist to work as part of a team to support students for success in high school and enrollment in college as outlined in the goals of the Upward Bound programs in accordance with U.S. Dept. of Education and KSC policies. This is a full-time, benefited position, contingent upon grant funding.
Upward Bound is a year-round college preparatory program that prepare students for success in high school and enrollment in college; are funded by the U.S. Department of Education TRIO Division; are free of charge to students who meet eligibility criteria including being low-income and first-generation college students; and serve students enrolled in identified target high schools. Bachelors degree in education, psychology, human services, or area closely related to the program; demonstrated leadership experience; proficient with processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software, including Microsoft Office and Google Drive; ability to deliver engaging presentations; demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, and staff; evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills; valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a participant or staff member for a TRIO program; proven commitment to the needs of disadvantaged students. Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
Salary Information
Starting salary: $41,890, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off. Position is contingent upon grant funding. This posiition is part of the Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA).

Duty/Responsibility
Implements recruitment and retention strategies outlined in the grant proposal, annual recruitment plan, and calendar of events; Conducts outreach presentations at target schools and community organizations to identify and recruit eligible students; Represents the Upward Bound Programs at high impact events, including: target school open houses, school wide and grade level target school events, and staff recruitment fairs; Seeks opportunities to grow relationships with student and educators, community agencies, to increase awareness of, and participation in, the Upward Bound Programs to positivity impact disadvantaged youth and their communities; Works with program coordinators to support the creation of promotional materials such as social media campaigns, flyers, brochures, mailings, posters and banners; Assists with the orientation of new students and families.
Duty/Responsibility
Implements activities and services designed to increase retention and graduation rates of current and eligible program participants; Assist with presentations at relevant small and large group campus and regional events, including STEM activities and non-KSC TRIO or EOP programs when visiting campus; Facilitate workshops for student participants on topics which include: soft skills, coping strategies, learning skills, study skills, and time management for students and families; Supervise academic year field trips and facilitate large group activities, including but not limited to: grade-specific workshops, college tours, and academic and cultural field trips; Promotes program services, events, and activities to current students to increase participation; Provides academic and financial aid advising to students in the absence of educational counselors, and as needed; Designs and implements peer mentor program; Assists with oversight of the community advisory board; Writes quarterly newsletters to participants, parents, and stakeholders.
Duty/Responsibility
Assist with the recruitment and selection of summer staff, including teachers, assistant residential supervisors, and mentors; Contribute to formative and summative assessments on student performance, student engagement, summer staff performance, and programming; Participate in the student judiciary process to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff members; Serve as administrator on duty a minimum of one night per week (as assigned); Contribute to the facilitation of events, such as: Summer Orientation, Opening Day Activities, Family BBQ & Talent Show, Banquet, Final Presentations, and program/staff evaluation days; Supervise summer staff members, as needed; Chaperone remote week 6 excursion, including college tour, community service learning, career awareness, and cultural events.
Duty/Responsibility
Maintain federally mandated documentation including weekly contact logs, mileage, time and effort, etc.; Utilize technology such as excel, databases systems, and google apps to submit program data and maintain communications with students, parents, and partners; Conduct both formative and summative programmatic assessments; Submit monthly reports including time and effort, leave report, and contacts; Attend staff meetings; Attend PD conferences and training; Position requires evening, overnight, and weekend hours during the school year, and extended hours during the summer; Performs other duties as assigned
