Assistant Director of Marketing

Job Description

At Texas Home School Coalition, we are a Christian non-profit organization that empowers families to educate their children at home. In order to do this, we need an Assistant Director of Marketing to be an excellent manager of the marketing campaigns and processes that further the mission and vision of THSC, empowering and equipping families in Texas to raise and educate their kids. At THSC, we believe that our team can be their best working remote (living within the huge state of Texas is preferred) with on-camera meetings (PJ bottoms optional) and using Google Workspace.

We understand how challenging it can be to jump into an organization and be part of a marketing team that aims to recruit 10,000 members across the state of Texas. Which is why we have a great team support structure. With weekly team, direct report, and department meetings, we navigate creating marketing campaigns for membership and our annual events (2 conferences, Gala, Capitol Days, staff, and board meetings). With about 30 days of travel a year, this position helps to shape the future of THSC and the future of homeschool families across Texas.

The Assistant Director of Marketing's primary objectives are to:

  • Ensure that our middle of funnel channels (email campaigns) are converting to the bottom of the funnel (membership, event registrations).
  • Develop, coach and empower marketing team members.
  • Develop, execute and manage mutli-channel marketing campaigns.

  • As the Assistant Director of Marketing, you make the big strategies happen. You are great at managing processes, enjoy thinking big, and do not sleep until you create solutions and every deatil is in place. You are the key project manager, problem-solving until there is a win-win, and believe in guiding and empowering others.
  • You bring a passion for people, always thinking of better, more creative ways to serve others.
  • A willingness to be humble, laugh at yourself and be integral to creating a fun, enjoyable working relationship with the team.
  • Decision-making and conflict resolution. It will happen on great days and not-so-great days. You need to be good at making decisions (sometimes on the fly) and resolving conflict. Owning your choices and standing by your team's decisions.
  • A desire to develop leaders and honor team members, volunteers, and sponsors.

What you’ll do:

  • Be the person that drives processes attentively, yet places a high value on relationships required to execute powerful marketing campaigns.
  • You are the key project manager for Marketing. When a marketing strategy is developed or an initiative is launched, you take the end-result and gather the resources, people and processes needed to bring it to fruition.
  • Design and manage various multi-channel marketing campaigns. Working with the Digital Content Manager, Lead Writer & Editor, interns and Technology team, you oversee the execution of campaigns to promote membership, event registrations and policy initiatives.
  • Lead, develop and care for our Marketing team. Your direct reports will be the Digital Marketing Manager, Lead Writer & Editor and 1-2 marketing interns. You will be responsible for developing, coaching and empowering these team members.
  • Be an essential voice in working with the team to craft brand messaging, marketing, and programming elements for events - from the schedule to each word spoken during the session.
  • We like for you to "get things done." But excellence is at the top of the list to deliver quality projects and events and build relationships.
  • Be the creator inside and outside of THSC to cultivate and expand our audience. You are vital to being part of creating the community, resources and events that encourage, equip, and advocate for families in their home education journey to the glory of God.

We are a Christian organization. We pray before and during meetings and use verses from the Holy Bible in our events and programming language. You will need to be comfortable being part of that environment and often leading with elements and values of the Christian faith.

It’ll be Awesome if:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in marketing and/or non-profits
  • Business or marketing-related degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Experience in all aspects of developing and managing marketing strategies
  • Technical marketing skills
  • A whiz (or familiar) with apps such as Google Workspace, Asana, Hubspot, etc.
  • Familiar with the homeschool community a plus
