Lecturer in Rural Business Management

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £35,129 - £40,560 per annum

SRUC has a long record of delivery of education programmes within Rural Business Management. Current programmes of education include HNC, HND, BA (Hons) across the subject areas of Rural Business Management. This has a RICS accreditation stream. As well as Agriculture, Wildlife & Countryside, and various animal related qualifications. SRUC also has established the Entrepreneurial Academy for the Natural Economy (EARN) with the aim of support innovation and enterprise within its student and staff body.

The candidate should be able deliver across the rural business management programme at HN and Degree level. This is a RICS accredited programme. The candidate should be able to deliver modules in finance, management and innovation, as well as other areas of business management and engage with student recruitment activities. The candidate should enjoy the challenge of teaching business subjects to students from other cohorts, e.g., agriculture and wildlife & countryside, in addition to rural business management students.

The course also involves taking students on trips to real businesses and it would be an advantage if the successful candidate was qualified [or willing to take the test] to drive a minibus.

Teaching:

  • Teaching and supporting HN and UG students, supervising projects and dissertations Maintaining a portfolio of teaching activity of high quality, reputation, and impact. Continually developing approaches to teaching and learning which are innovative in the subject area and reflect best practice. Participating actively in the development of subject based pedagogy and teaching, learning and assessment strategies. Involvement in continuing professional development in relation to teaching and, where appropriate, related professional practices. Contributing to the development of curriculum to embrace industry need Contributing to the development, application, and maintenance of academic standards in a defined area of work to advance student academic development.

Research / Industry Links / KE:

  • Establish/maintain a developing research trajectory that complements existing work within the REES department and across SRUC Supervise students engaged on post-graduate courses Lead and/or contribute to funding bids and related activities, including Knowledge Exchange, which develop and sustain support for the subject area and recognised excellence for the institution Actively contribute to the subject specialism through engaging with RICS and other learned societies and professional bodies.
