The lab of Dr. Daniel Gallego-Perez, Biomedical Engineering, General Surgery, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher with experience in fields such as biomedical engineering, drug and gene delivery, and cell therapies. The Gallego-Perez Laboratory (https://www.gallegoperezlab.com) is a multidisciplinary research team that focuses on the development of novel nanotechnologies for fundamental and translational applications, with a major emphasis on non-viral gene delivery and cell therapies for regenerative medicine and cancer. Our lab is housed in state-of-the-art buildings in Fontana Labs and the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute on Ohio State’s main campus. This work involves collaborations with Biomedical Engineering, Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Neurology. Team members also have unique access to cross-disciplinary facilities and collaborations at our top ranked schools of Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine.


The individual will be responsible for conducting in vitro and in vivo studies aimed at elucidating the role of tissue nanotransfection-driven approaches in mediating tissue repair and regeneration following peripheral nerve injury. Experience with nanotechnology, non-viral gene delivery, and cell therapies is required. Techniques performed may include cell and tissue nano-transfection, tissue processing, cellular and molecular analyses, electrophysiological analyses, etc. Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques is required. Applicants must be able to manage projects with minimum direction; this includes running experiments, managing samples, collecting and processing data, summarizing data, writing abstracts and manuscripts, and performing critical review of relevant and current literature.

Required Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in engineering or sciences - related disciplines such as biomedical engineering, biomedical sciences, chemical engineering, materials science, materials engineering, polymer science, polymer engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences.

Desired Qualifications:
Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills and attention to detail are a must. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are preferred. Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
