REPORTS TO: Director of Institutional Research & Effectiveness

 

CLASSIFICATION: Professional Staff

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research & Effectiveness, the Institutional Research and Effectiveness Specialist is responsible for executing the functions and responsibilities of the office by conducting high level research, processing, and reporting data, maintaining data integrity and completing advanced administrative support services. Such services include preparing enrollment reports and analysis, updating data charts and graphs for the college fact book, coordinating, conducting, and analyzing surveys, extracting data from the college computer system, and performing advanced clerical duties. The Institutional Research and Effectiveness Specialist works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

 

 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble data from various sources, format data into tables and/or graphs, and develop the college fact book.
  • Design, implement, and prepare survey instruments. Coordinate with vendor, college staff and students to facilitate survey administration, data entry, and analysis of survey results.
  • Assist with focus groups across the district.
  • Use Colleague and Oracle system to run all student/continuing education state reports, verify correctness, and submit data files to the state coordinating board.
  • Prepare daily enrollment reports, compare to previous year’s data, and maintain daily history report for future analysis.
  • Create data reports for ad hoc district and department institutional needs
  • Extract course section data and electronically transfer to marketing for semester schedule preparation.
  • Maintain a calendar of submission dates for all state and federal reports and ensure deadlines for reporting are met.
  • Assist with the office budget, create purchase orders, and keep office supplies stocked.
  • Conduct research at the local, state, and national levels for trends and opportunities
  • Check reports to ensure data integrity and offer solutions to maintain clean data.
  • Assist with institutional effectiveness measures, including strategic plan the program review processes.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Microsoft Office skills: including the ability to merge documents in Word, create formulas in Excel, create charts in PowerPoint and use Outlook mail and calendar.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Internet and advanced search tools to locate information.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong desire to seek solutions
  • Excellent keyboarding skills and able to perform difficult data entry assignments.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and utilize multiple software programs
  • Service-oriented and able to maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Able to be highly accurate in work produced and to ensure correctness in reports.

 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in an office setting
  • Advanced computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent Communication Skills

 

Preferred

  • Experience working in research and/or effectiveness office
  • Experience working at a Texas community college
  • Knowledge/use of SPSS, Canvas, and Colleague
  • Experience using survey instruments

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Variances from regular working hours will occur, to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.

Pay: From $35,568.00 per year
