KLR Executive Search Group is proud to partner with Farm Sanctuary (www.farmsanctuary.org) to recruit their new Chief Executive Officer. Founded in 1986, our client is America’s first shelter for rescued farm animals and has been an internationally recognized leader in efforts to combat abuses in factory farming. It works to raise awareness and promotes laws, policies and practices that protect animals through rescue, education, and advocacy. Today, Farm Sanctuary manages farms that house roughly 800 farm animals in Watkins Glen, NY, and 100 animals in Acton, CA.

Position Overview:
This is a remote position.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the new Chief Executive Officer will work in conjunction with the Founder & President to lead and continue the work of this highly regarded institution. The CEO will oversee a national team of 115 staff members and an annual operating budget of approximately $16 million.

Key Near-Term Priorities:

-Recruit and rally a diverse pool of stakeholders and allies to support the Farm Sanctuary mission.

-Advocate on behalf of Farm Sanctuary with government and legislative officials.

-Lead the process of conceptualizing and reorganizing operational functions.

Job Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as non-profit management, public affairs, or business is highly preferred.

-Eight or more years of experience in a senior management role of a for-profit or non-profit organization.

-Proven ability to engage internal stakeholders in implementing strategic plans and agendas, overseeing infrastructure development and investment, and meeting and exceeding goals.

-Deep knowledge and understanding of fundraising and donor stewardship.

-Demonstrated experience with a systematic approach to promoting and supporting a diverse and inclusive community resulting in a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

-Passionate belief in and personal alignment with Farm Sanctuary’s mission, vision, and values.
