The University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is currently recruiting one Postdoctoral Fellow in Pediatric Psychology for the 2023-2024 academic year. The overall goal of this fellowship is to prepare the next generation of scientist-practitioners for careers in academic research and clinical applications. Currently, we are offering a fellowship focused on psychological assessment of learning and attention disorders as well as neuropsychological testing with youth with various medical conditions. The fellow will spend about 70% of their time in clinical activities and will have opportunities for research and structured educational activities as well. The fellow will spend most clinical time in the LD/ADHD and Pediatric Neuropsychology outpatient clinics, but there are additional opportunities for working in clinics on health adjustment and/or pain.
Position Responsibilities Include the following:
Perform psychological and neuropsychological assessments.
Participate in inpatient and outpatient clinical services
Development treatment recommendation plans for patients.
Knowledge of child development.
Maintain detailed and accurate notes
Present at case conferences.
Present at Pediatric Grand Rounds presentations.
Adhere to safety and compliance guidelines.
Summarize and write findings pertinent to psychological assessments.
Engage in research activities
At University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Psychology is housed within the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics within the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics. Our team of psychologists have specialties in three distinct areas including Neuropsychology, Chronic Health, and Behavioral Psychology.
A one-year postdoctoral fellowship position is available for candidates who will have obtained their PhD in clinical, counseling, or school psychology and completed an APA/APPIC approved internship prior to the start date of September 1, 2023. The fellow must also obtain a provisional license to practice in Iowa by the start date. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, a de-identified evaluation report, and a letter of intent describing clinical and research interests. Stipend is commensurate with NIH guidelines, and includes health benefits, paid vacation and sick leave, and time to attend national conferences.

Education Requirement:
Ph.D. in clinical, counseling, or school psychology is required
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an APA/APPIC approved internship prior to the date of hire
License or eligible to obtain a provisional license to practice psychology in Iowa.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of Child Development
Knowledge of psychological and neuropsychological assessments
