Job Description:

 

Special Programs Coordinator: Coordinator of Early College Lynn

 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week (occasional afternoons, evenings and Saturdays required)

 

Benefited, Grant funded position through August 1st, 2023 (Smith Grant)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Coordinator of Early College Consortium will work specifically with students and partners in the Early College program with Lynn Public Schools. The role is committed to facilitating access to higher education and successful accomplishment of student goals. Creates and promotes resources that support student achievement in personal barriers. Focuses on empowering first-generation, low income students and anchors the student as a vital member of the College community. A special emphasis will be placed on English Language Learners for this role. Responsible for serving all students and partners participating in North Shore Community College Early College Consortium. In addition, the position supports other current and prospective North Shore Community College students transitioning from High School into career pathways educational programs. This position reports to the Executive Director of K12 Partnerships.

This grant is funded until August 1st, 2023.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the work of the Early College Lynn program- including outreach, advisement, planning and carrying out student-and-family engagement events and college awareness activities, information sessions, registration sessions and orientations.
  • Assists the Dean in the management of the partnership and day to day operations with the school district partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with College offices, community-based organizations, school districts to support students' career and academic advising needs.
  • Collaborate with Early College and Strategic Partnerships staff.
  • Collaborate with support services staff at the college such as Tutoring, Accessibility Services, Advising and Enrollment Services.
  • Assist Coordinator in developing and providing information about colleges, admissions requirements, financial aid and career information to students and their families.
  • Prepare and lead orientations and program related workshops.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of policies and procedures associated with Early College programs.
  • Maintain confidential data and abide by all laws and policies that govern student privacy.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students, faculty, and staff of varying racial, ethnic, religious, gender, cultural, disability, sexual orientation and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with a diversity of learning styles.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor for students as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

 

 


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with three (3) years' experience and/or training in educational or career counseling, college registration, academic advisement, career development, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Master's preferred.
  • Experience providing direct support to diverse student populations, preferably in a community college setting.
  • Experience working with English Language learners strongly preferred.
  • Ability to connect with and design and implement programming for dual enrollment students.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills.
  • A strong commitment to diversity and social justice.
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
  • Experience in higher education in an urban setting is preferred.
  • Experience working with virtual and hybrid educational technologies preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel between campuses, school districts and off site location as needed.
  • Ability to work virtually as needed.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.

Additional Information:

SALARY RANGE: Anticipated starting salary is $52,754.00.00 to $60,478.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement.
