Job Description

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
Responsible for teaching laboratory sections associated with General Chemistry and offering supplemental instructions to students taking General Chemistry courses.
Present lectures and provide hands-on instructions during laboratory sessions.
Host supplemental instructions to students in small groups.
Help individual students in developing laboratory and problem solving skills.
Grade lab reports, review course assignments, and provide feedback to students.
Assist faculty in assessing learning outcomes.
Assist Chemistry Stockroom to implement new experiments.
Advise students on study skills and time management.
Perform additional assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field and 2 years of instruction experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field and 2 plus years of instruction experience.
Outstanding instructional skills and passionate for teaching.
Outstanding hands-on laboratory skills.
Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.

Physical Requirements:
Requires extended periods of sitting, walking, speaking, and writing on paper or whiteboard. Extended hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard. Occasional climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
