If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

 

We are seeking a technical lead to help us define the future of Space-Based, Space Domain Awareness capabilities for the US Space Force. You will lead a motivated 3-5 person team in defining key challenges, envisioning solutions, implementing the analysis path, and ultimately providing crucial decision information to high-level decision-makers. We will ask you to help the sponsor define the long-term study objectives and analysis path, interpret data and simulation outputs, and develop your teams’ skills. Flexibility is paramount as the landscape is constantly shifting.

As a Space Domain Awareness Technical Lead...

  • Your primary responsibility will be leading a team of 3-5 analysts in the development and execution of an analysis plan supporting Space Systems Command.
  • You will define the study vision to support the space domain awareness challenges.
  • You will develop analytical framework and leverage and/or create appropriate tools to conceptualize and evaluate Space Domain Awareness technologies, systems, and architectures.
  • You will regularly communicate analysis goals, outcomes, and make recommendation to the Space Domain Awareness community.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a Master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Are knowledgeable in Space Domain Awareness, orbital dynamics, or optics
  • Are familiar with software development practices and tools: Git, MATLAB, STK.
  • Regularly present technical findings and making recommendations to external organizations
  • Are willing and able to relocate to the APL Field Office in El Segundo, CA
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.   • Hold an active TS security clearance and have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a Doctoral degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Are an authority in Space Domain Awareness, orbital dynamics, or optics
  • Have experience interacting with US Space Force sponsors
  • Have experience solving cislunar space challenges
  • Have a track record of innovation and research success
  • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance
