Job Description Summary
Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine is seeking to hire a 2?year Postdoctoral Research Assistant/Associate position, with the potential to be renewed. The position is in the Department of Foundational Medical Studies in the laboratory of Dr. Vardan T. Karamyan. The successful candidate will benefit from a stimulating and collaborative research environment and will have ample opportunities for scientific growth, career enhancement, and development into an independent investigator. The program will provide training in (1) Ischemic stroke and related neurodegenerative disorders; research encompasses both cerebroprotection and neurorecovery; (2) drug?discovery focusing on the development of small molecule activators of peptidases (e.g., neurolysin and ACE2); (3) career development; (4) grant writing and; (5) learning how to mentor.
We seek a highly motivated, creative and collaborative individual who will be able to work with a mentor and present research at weekly laboratory meetings and scientific conferences, prepare manuscripts for peer?reviewed journals, assist in research grant data collection and writing, and provide guidance to junior trainees.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D., Pharm.D., M.D. or equivalent in an area relevant to neuropharmacology, chemical biology, biochemistry, neurobiology/neuroscience and/or molecular biology.
