Post-doctoral Fellowships in Pediatric Neuropsychology & Mental Health

MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA will offer a number of post-doctoral fellowships from September 2021 through the end of August 2022, with a $40,000 stipend and hospital benefits.
The Neurodevelopmental Clinic (NDC) offers full-time advanced training in neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents for postdoctoral trainees and post-licensed psychologists. This is a one-year fellowship, with the option for a second year as an Advanced Postdoctoral Fellow.
Pediatric Neuropsychology & Mental Health Fellowships:
In addition, a number of additional full-time fellowships involving a combination of testing and clinical work will be available. Options include:
  • Half-time in the Adolescent Partial Hospital Program & half-time testing in the NDC
  • Half-time in the Child Psychiatry Service (Inpatient) & half-time testing in the NDC
  • Half-time in the Psychiatry Service (Child & Adult Outpatient) & half-time testing in the NDC
The NDC fellowship involves testing children/adolescents with developmental, learning, attention, autism spectrum, behavioral and/or psychiatric disorders. There are also weekly didactic seminars and bi-monthly staff meetings. The latter typically involves a case presentation once a month and an outside speaker once a month. There is also the option of testing as part of a multi-discipline team, which includes pediatric psychiatry, speech and language, occupational therapy and physical therapy.
Fellows in the Adolescent Partial Hospital Program conduct intakes, act as clinical case managers, conduct daily individual as well as family therapy, and attend weekly team meetings. In addition, fellows conduct psychosocial assessments, facilitate psychotherapy groups, deliver individual psychotherapy and family therapy sessions, obtain insurance authorizations and participate in weekly multidisciplinary rounds.
Fellows in the Child Psychiatry In-Patient Service facilitate groups, have a select group of patients with whom they will conduct individual and family therapy, and provide consultation and education for the multidisciplinary team.

Outpatient Mental Health training includes individual and family therapy experience with children and adolescents (0-18) with diverse emotional and neurodevelopmental issues, as well as with adults (18+) with a variety of presenting problems (e.g., mood, anxiety, trauma). Fellows complete initial intakes and conduct individual, family, and couples psychotherapy, and receive training in behavioral interventions (particularly play therapy, CBT, DBT and brief psychotherapies). They engage in weekly individual and group supervision with an experienced and cohesive staff and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and staff presentations.
