HIRING SALARY: $48,116.46 - $52,697.16 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary
HOURS: 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday; (hours may vary to include evenings and weekends)

MAJOR FUNCTION:
The Manager of Student Life is committed to student learning, growth and development inside and outside of the classroom in an effort to bolster student involvement, and positively impact retention and persistence to graduation. The position will provide leadership, supervision, and management of student life campus events, including event calendar maintenance. The Manager will foster an environment where students seek to be campus leaders and will want to actively participate in student government, clubs and organizations, as well as other related activities to help create a positive learning environment for all students at the College. The position also monitors and manages the unit budgets and exercises supervision over student employees and full-time staff. The position requires working some weekends and travel to off-site locations.
  • Manages, advises, coordinates, and evaluates the activities associated with the Office of Student Life, which includes: The Student Government Association, Clubs and Organizations, Peer Leader Program, and Student Volunteer Program. Communicates and collaborates with student leaders. Leads Student Life leadership with planning, advertising, and implementing programs designed to identify and develop leadership skills of students.
  • Plans a robust calendar of student events to include all co-curricular programs and engagement initiatives. Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to charter new student clubs and organizations. Leads student organizations by providing leadership development and advisor training. Projects, recommends and manages budgets associated with the Office of Student Life.
  • Oversees student activity events associated with clubs and student-centered activities. Initiates, administers, establishes, and implements all student activities in accordance with student needs and interests. This requires some weekend work and travel to off-site locations. Conducts ongoing assessments of programs and services designed for students.
  • Implements a campus publicity system to ensure widespread dissemination of information on student life’s programs and services which includes updating the Student Life website and calendar, coordinating marketing efforts for the department, as well as organizing content on all social media platforms and MyTCC.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field and (2) two years of experience in higher education of which one year must have been in a supervisory capacity. Preference given to applicants who have experience in student affairs, student activities, event planning or other related experiences. A master’s degree in education, student development/personnel or related field may substitute for one year of the required experience but may not replace the required supervisory experience. Experience working at a community college and/or understanding the community college’s commitment to access and student success (preferred).
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:
Knowledge of TCC Policies and Procedures. Knowledge of fitness, intramural, outdoor, athletic programs, and athletic equipment, including instruction, safety, maintenance, and operations. Knowledge of and ability to plan, promote, and implement Student Engagement Programs. Knowledge and ability to handle money collections. Knowledge of basic student record keeping principles. Knowledge to TCC interactions and connections with FCCAA, FJCCSGA, ACUI, NACA, and other organizations. Knowledge of Student Engagement budgeting procedures. Knowledge and ability to arrange for sound equipment for Student Engagement and student events. Skills in projecting and recommending budgets for Student Engagement Accounts. Skills in acquiring, scheduling, and managing transportation of students engaged in extra-curricular activities. Skills in operating a motor vehicle safely. Ability to plan, coordinate, manage staff and events for student activities. Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate work assignments. Ability to train and evaluate student leaders and student staff. Ability to purchase equipment and maintain an inventory. Ability to work independently. Ability to collaborate with faculty on programming and events. Ability to coordinate programs for students and public. Ability to collect, analyze and report data regarding student involvement in activities. Ability to plan, promote, implement and supervise Student Engagement programs. Ability to provide planning, organizing and support to all student campus organizations and their advisors. Ability to make independent judgments. Ability to follow written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
