IT Systems Administrator
Job Description
IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, Division of Comparative Medicine, to coordinate the administrative activities required to support network, server configuration, hardware and software installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and operating procedures; ensure availability, reliability, and continuous productivity of the computing environment; and keep DCM up-to-date with new technology. Responsibilities include offering first- through third-level support, service desk assistance, problem management, and vendor support; providing advanced troubleshooting; maintaining, configuring, installing, and testing system management tools, operating systems, and application software; coordinating multiple complex IT projects; application virtualization; planning, designing, and implementing necessary IT assets and solutions to meet the growing needs of staff; supporting daily IT operations, including account management, device administration, network administration, iPhone maintenance, and software management; keeping staff up-to-date with MIT’s regulations; managing remote workstations; monitoring server performance, permissions, access, account management, and security issues; coordinating hardware and software changes and upgrades; working with MIT IST and vendors to upgrade and apply security patches, maintain the database, and install virtual applications; maintaining inventory; researching and making recommendations for new technology purchases; staying abreast of MIT’s upgrades and keeping DCM computational environment up-to-date; onboarding new staff and offboarding; providing training, instruction, and documentation for DCM staff; staying up-to-date with security software, vulnerabilities, exploits, incidents, etc. documenting processes, procedures, and activities related to all IT systems.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field, five years’ experience supporting hybrid Window and Macintosh environments, and advanced-level knowledge of IT standards/policies. Job #21929-8
