Summary of Position:

The Director of Education is an externally facing role, responsible for directing the strategy, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of virtual and in-person general PI and diagnosis-specific education programs, that are inclusive of all individuals in the PI community, providing accurate information to understand and manage their care. This position will also oversee education and outreach programs to medical professionals and to medically underserved populations. The Director of Education will have/develop a deep knowledge of primary immunodeficiencies and remain up to date regarding the management and treatment of these rare conditions. This position will ensure programming includes best-in-class and appropriate content and delivery designs (in-person and virtual) and demonstrate expertise in curriculum design. The Director of Education position is remote with occasional travel for conferences and periodic travel to the IDF offices in Maryland.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create and provide input regarding the development of budgets for all general PI and diagnosis-specific education, outreach, and medical programs to meet IDF’s strategic goals
  • Plan and deliver a strategic, well-balanced schedule for education and outreach programs, while directing the development, implementation, and evaluation of inclusive education programs, forums, and services for individuals with PI and family members.
  • Oversee the development of programs and events for youth, teens, and young adults, including but not limited to the Teen and Young Adult Escape weekend.
  • Lead and/or serve on the internal planning committees of key events, including IDF’s annual Primary Immunodeficiency National Conference and Teen and Young Adult Escapes.
  • Collaborate with other departments, affinity groups, industry partners, and medical professionals on projects related to educational, medical, and outreach programs and resources for individuals with PI and family members.
  • Build relationships and expand IDF’s network of healthcare professionals and scientists.
  • Represent IDF in the PI community at key medical conferences.
  • Attend and participate in industry or partnership meetings.
  • Supervise staff who support the execution of educational, medical, and outreach programs serving the PI community and medically underserved populations.
  • Grow revenue-bearing education and outreach programs for individuals in the PI community, medical professionals, and medically underserved populations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree (preferred) in an educational, health or medical-related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years' experience in developing and delivering training and educational programs. Previous experience developing medical and/or health-based education is preferred.
  • A considerable amount of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed to perform the essential functions of this role.
  • Ability to create programming for a diverse audience and reach underserved communities.
  • Strong ability to interact with the public, clinicians, organization and corporate executives and work collaboratively with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to create multi-faceted educational and outreach programs from the ground up.

Technical Requirements:

Proficiency in the following software programs is necessary for this role:

  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams
  • Zoom Platform (including Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars)
  • Constituent relationship management (CRM) software such as Salesforce
  • Information retrieval or search software such as PubMed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
