Job Description

Description

Are you interested in advances in microwave/RF technologies and how they enable system-level benefits?

Do you enjoy developing prototypes to validate new concepts?

If so...

The Sensor Technologies Group has an exciting opportunity for an RF engineer who is motivated to make critical contributions to our nation's defense in the area of phased arrays systems and technology. In this position, you will get to work at both the detailed technical level of RF technology and apply knowledge of RF technology to demonstrate and analyze system-level impacts.

You will...

  1. Assess cutting edge RF component and system technologies through analytical and experimental studies to determine their relevance to applications of interest. This includes technologies such as element-level digital phased arrays, advance power amplifier topologies, advanced transceiver topologies, and electro-optic systems.
  2. Work on teams to develop proof-of-concepts and testbeds that leverage laboratory equipment and Software Defined Radios
  3. Interface with experts in digital design, firmware, software, and antenna design to create complex RF systems
  4. Engage in over-the-air field testing to validate operation in a realistic environment
  5. Communicate results and findings with staff and sponsors

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you have...

  • MS degree in any of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience in RF hardware development/engineering including requirements analysis, RF system architecture, RF hardware design, simulation, evaluation, maintenance, support, testing, and problem diagnosis
  • 2+ years experience with microwave measurement equipment including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers
  • Strong MATLAB skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time if needed
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. You will go above and beyond if you have...

  • Ph.D. in the disciplines listed above.
  • Experience with RF PCB design tools and techniques
  • Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as HFSS, Momentum, or FEKO
  • Experience with commercial RF transceivers and software-defined radios such as Ettus, bladeRF, HackRF
  • Familiarity with Digital Signal Processing for phased-array radars or synthetic aperture radars
  • Some experience working in the field of Electronic Warfare and RF
  • Existing Secret clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
