Communications Officer/Dispatcher (Temp/On-Call)Job Description
This is an on-call position with the focus on augmenting our current staff on football game days and other special events.

The University of Notre Dame has an exciting opportunity for an on-call Communications Officer (Dispatcher) in the Notre Dame Police Department.
The Campus of the University of Notre Dame is comparable to a small town – offering everything from police services, fire protection, shopping, and world-class entertainment. Working in the Communication Center for the University merges the responsibilities of a municipal emergency dispatch center with the high level of customer service of a collegiate setting. A Communications Officer is an integral part of the Campus Safety Division throughout the year, as well as during home football games and other sporting events, commencement, summer sports camps, concerts, and a variety of events and activities in between. This requires working in unison with the numerous divisions across campus to facilitate responses for Police, Fire, Risk Management, and any other needed services that touch on the safety of our community.
The Communications Officer utilizes a computer aided dispatch system to track all calls for service. Administrative phone lines, emergency phone lines, closed-circuit television, and various alarm systems are some of the tools that are utilized in day to day operations. This position requires the ability to multitask while working in close proximity to other team members, and a drive to provide the highest level of customer service. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, the ability to communicate both in writing and verbally with a diverse population, and the ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining excellent customer service. Must be Pro-QA EMD Certified through their current or former department. IDACS certification is a plus. Spillman is our current CAD system and and candidates must be willing to undergo training in call entry and familiarization with campus locations.
