Full Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The tutor will be responsible for leading one-on-one or small group sessions that cater to the needs and goals of the nursing students. Familiarity with the course syllabi, as well as the various NUR course, lab, and clinical objectives. Performs evaluation to determine specific needs of individual nursing students. Assists with assignments, projects, test preparation, papers, and other academic tasks. Coaches’ students to develop effective study habits (exam prep, classroom note taking, reading resources effectively, etc.)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in nursing. Current license as a registered nurse in NC.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in nursing. Current license as a registered nurse in NC. One year of experience providing instruction or advising to adult learners. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered.


WORK EXPERIENCE:
Past tutoring experience preferred, though not required.

Exceptional customer service. Effective interpersonal relations and serving the public. Ability to support and encourage students. Ability to develop plans for student success. Exceptional decision making and problem solving. Exceptional critical thinking and clinical judgement. Good oral and written communication. Ability to safeguard the academic privacy of the students. Robust knowledge of successful academic habits that improve students' success.
