Post-Doctoral Researcher

The Lu lab at MSU is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to join a collaborative project to improve sustainable production of the oilseed crop Camelina sativa. The team uses genomics-driven approaches to understand genetic and physiological mechanisms of nitrogen use efficiency, seed development, fatty acid and oil biosynthesis in camelina. Duties and Responsibilities
Perform functional genomics and biochemical experimentation in the lab on a daily basis
Data analysis and interpretation
Keep appropriate records of data
Write reports and papers, including the creation of publication quality figures
Train and supervise other employees in the lab

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Ph.D. in plant genetics, physiology, molecular biology or related fields
A record of publications in plant physiology, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experiences in molecular biology techniques such as gene expression, DNA-protein or protein-protein interactions and cell biology
In-depth knowledge in plant genetics, molecular biology or biochemistry

The Successful Candidate Will
Be a motivated scholar with a strong work ethic.
Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Have the ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks and in different roles.
Work productively in a team-oriented environment.
Maintain excellent records, attention to detail, meet deadlines, prioritize competing demands, and should be skilled at prioritizing, organizing, and working on multiple projects.
