This job is part of the Programs, Research & Innovation in Sexual Minority Health (PRISM Health) team in the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health. PRISM Health’s work seeks to understand and improve the sexual health of sexual minority populations, with focus on HIV, mHealth, and adolescents and young adults; more information about PRISM Health is available at https://prismhealth.emory.edu. As part of this work, PRISM leads a collection of multi-institution biobehavioral surveys with sexual and gender minority persons, including the American Men’s Internet Survey (https://emoryamis.org) that has collected more than 90,000 surveys from sexual minority men over the past 9 years. We seek a postdoctoral fellow to work as part of the study team and lead analyses of HIV/STI prevention data from our collection of surveys. Responsibilities will include analyses, preparations of figures and tables, participating on writing teams, and leading one or more writing teams. The postdoctoral fellows will also participate in individualized development programs to help prepare them for the transition from fellowship to applying for and succeeding in early career faculty roles.

Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or other relevant quantitative field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Experience with analysis of HIV/STI prevention research data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead manuscript production, especially in the areas of HIV prevention and behavioral or public health outcomes
  • Experience with analyses to characterize behavioral or biomedical outcomes in cross-sectional and longitudinal data structures
  • Expertise in data analysis with SAS, R, or other statistical software
  • Experience with studies conducted with sexual and gender minority people.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster a good working relationship with others on the team and collaborators

Additional Job Details
The scientist will be under the mentorship of Dr. Travis Sanchez will have the opportunity to collaborate with leaders in the field. The position will be based at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The initial appointment is for one year and renewal is anticipated if performance is satisfactory and funds are available.
