JOB SUMMARY
Manages the delivery of special education, social/emotional, and trauma informed services for Friends of Children and Families (FOCAF).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Oversees the hiring and placement of special services staff.
- Directly supervises the Social-Emotional Coordinator, Special Education Coordinator, and Trauma Informed Coordinator.
- Develops an effective program for training and supporting policies and procedures; provides or arranges for regular training and technical assistance to staff, ensuring special services mandatory trainings are completed.
- Develops policies, reports, and procedures that are necessary to implement the Head Start Performance Standards. Assures that policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and needed revisions are made.
- Evaluates special services data and prepares reports for FOCAF Executive Director, leadership team, Board of Directors, Policy Council, and community partners.
- Ensures and monitors the completion of the developmental screenings of children in the FOCAF program and ensures appropriate follow up is completed.
- Ensures high quality and responsive special education, social emotional, and trauma informed services are provided to children and families.
- Reviews all contracts and MOUs from FOCAF community partners that pertain to Mental Health, Trauma, and Disability services
- Participates in MDT Meetings and serves as a representative at the assigned center.
- Works with Special Services team to recruit new community partnerships.
- Oversees the Special Services Budget to ensure program objectives are met and ensures Head Start and Early Head Start needs are prioritized and promotes effective use of budget.
- Observes the Special Services team in implementation of staff support to ensure meeting of program standards and needs of children and families
- Collaborates effectively with the other managers to ensure integrated program operations; implement program goals and works with the team to jointly address and resolve problems.
- Participates in Leadership team meetings.
- Represents the organization on one community group related to their program area with monthly or quarterly attendance based on community group need.
- Keeps immediate supervisor, and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress.
- Prioritizes and adjusts to the changing demands of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Mental Health, Social Services, or related field.
- Two years’ experience in a supervisory/management position required.
- Must pass a physical screening and TB test.
- Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and FOCAF Head Start standards
- Must pass a drug test and submit to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Ability to complete training and maintain Boise City Child Care Worker License; and certification in First Aid and CPR.
