Summary of Job Duties:
The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to conduct research with a focus on coating development and characterization of 3D printed micro/nanostructures, coatings, and other advanced materials. In addition, the Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to 1) write peer-reviewed journal papers, 2) train and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, 3) supervise research facilities to ensure the smooth and safe operation of the lab and equipment, and 4) work with the faculty mentor to prepare proposals to secure funding for research or commercialization. This position is for one to two years based on annual performance reviews.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related fields from an accredited institution of higher education
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: 3D nanoprinting and in-situ nanoindentation and scratch testing
- Peer-reviewed publications in the areas listed above
- Experience with using various scientific instruments, such as scanning electron microscope, optical and contact profilometer, and tribometer
- Knowledge of using general office software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
