Compensation: Starting annual salary is $46,500 per the Salary Schedule. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Sciences for Health Programs provides required pre-requisite courses for students wishing to enter the healthcare field. The department serves to prepare students for successful admission to and completion of their chosen Health Sciences program by providing a comprehensive healthcare and science foundation tailored to the curriculum requirements of myriad Health Sciences programs. Sciences for Health Programs at Santa Fe College is seeking a full-time, continuing contract, nine-month (9) Assistant Professor of Chemistry to promote and encourage student success through quality science instruction and real-world learning experiences. 

Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor, Chemistry will develop, prepare, and teach a variety of coursework. The Assistant Professor, Chemistry will be housed at the Northwest Campus, but Santa Fe Faculty may be assigned to SF’s main Northwest campus or housed at any of the College’s six educational centers. Additionally, course offerings may be taught during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught using other distance learning formats.  Santa Fe College full-time Chemistry faculty have a primary nine (9) month contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the fall and 15 credit hours in the spring; other teaching opportunities over and above contractual obligations and during summer semesters may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.

  • Plan, organize, and instruct biological chemistry curriculum in classroom and laboratory setting promoting student subject mastery and success.

  • Collaborate with other faculty to evaluate, revise, and develop program curriculum and pedagogical methods that cultivate student learning and enhance the mastery of course content.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, local educators, and other school professionals to create and promote joint outreach, as well as develop educational partnerships and activities.

  • Support and promote the mission of the department and college, which centers on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, faculty scholarship, professional development, and service.

  • Teach in online and hybrid environments, including instruction via Learning Management Systems.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and college committee work.

  • Assist with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.

  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance and achievement of learning outcomes.

  • Strictly honor student confidentiality and privacy as per appropriate laws, regulations, and college rules.

  • Provide and promote service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Reports to: Chair, Sciences for Health Programs

Required:  A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Chemistry, Pharmacology, and/or Thermodynamics or a Master’s degree with eighteen (18) graduate course hours in any combination of the qualifying fields is required.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: Teaching experience in a community college and/or university setting and familiarity with classroom technologies and productivity tools are also preferred.

  • Relationship Management – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to others, building relationships and addressing identified needs.

  • Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
