Job Summary
The University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute (UTARI) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Automation and Intelligent Systems (AIS) Division. In this role, you will assist with research and development projects in the areas of robotics, machine learning, control systems, and/or computer vision. Applicants should have expertise in at least two the four aforementioned fields. The role will focus on directly contributing to theoretical and experimental research and development of new technologies. You will have opportunity to direct teams of students and researcher scientists. You will also assist in establishing and developing collaborative partnerships, grant and proposal writing, and contributing to patent applications.
General Requirements:
  • Possess first-hand knowledge and expertise in robotics, control systems, machine learning, and/or computer vision
  • Able to multi-task, collaboratively work in interdisciplinary teams, and work on projects independently
  • Able to present findings/results through both oral and written communication to internal and external customers
  • Maintain awareness of current technological advancements related to your field
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Design and analysis of algorithms for machine learning, estimation and control and/or computer vision.
  • Experimental validation of algorithms on hardware platforms
  • Supervise students and interns
  • Identify relevant funding opportunities; contribute to or lead writing efforts (proposals, publications, reports, presentations, etc.)
  • Participate in developing academic and industry collaborations
Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant engineering or science discipline, with background in robotics, machine learning, control theory and/or computer vision.
Preferred Qualifications

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
C/C++, Python, MATLAB, ROS, OpenCV, Unity, GPU programming, linear and nonlinear control theory, supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, Torch, Tensorflow, scientific communication, LaTeX.
