Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Multiple Sclerosis & Multiomic Research

A Postdoctoral Position in the Chitnis lab/Translational Neuroimmunology Research Center, within the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases, is available in the Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

The Translational Neuroimmunology Research Center (TNRC, PI Tanuja Chitnis) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to be part of team which conducts transcriptomic, cellular and genomic analysis in multiple sclerosis tissue samples. The TNRC is within the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases (ARCND) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and is academically affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

This candidate should have the following skills:

  • Excellent knowledge base in immunology and/or neuroscience
  • Cellular or tissue culture skills
  • Experience with transcriptomic conduct and analysis
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Teamwork skills

The postdoctoral fellow will receive training, professional development, and mentorship during the appointment period. As well, this position will function as part of a team of researchers which includes bench scientists, clinicians, bioinformatics, data analysts, other fellows, and trainees. Qualified candidates have a PhD, MD MD/PhD, or equivalent doctorate.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Principal duties of responsibility include:
  • Researches, develops, designs, executes and interprets models to analyze high-throughput assays.
  • Contributes to scientific literature, reports, journals and presentations.
  • Investigates, creates, and develops new methods and technologies for research advancement.
  • Maintains, organizes, and supports computational resources and respective code

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants are expected to have M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree. The successful candidate will have recently completed graduate studies in a PhD or MD/PhD program with a strong research and publication record in the biological sciences, evidenced by high-quality research publications. The candidate will have a strong background in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, or computer science. Excellent skills in scripting, e.g., bash, Python, and statistical languages, e.g., R, are prerequisite.

  • Candidates must have the ability to work well in a team environment, but also have a high degree of independence and initiative.
  • Strong research design and analytical skills.
  • Strong database statistical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of field of research.
  • Excellent time management/organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
