Data Analyst I

Job Description

DATA ANALYST 1, Resource Development-Information Technology (RD-IT)-Business Intelligence, to provide essential fundraising data to support MIT’s fundraising mission.  Will partner on assessing business needs and implementing solutions to those challenges;    participate in the full life cycle of collecting requirements, designing, testing, documenting, and fully implementing enterprise reporting resources for the advancement community; and work on projects in a dynamic environment that typically includes interdependencies with programming, prospect development, and other team members.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably computer science, information technology, data analysis, or similar discipline; one year of relevant experience analyzing large data sets and creating informative reports and dashboards; one year of SQL programming experience or experience working with and manipulating data sets using Excel or similar software; excellent planning, organizational, project management, analytical, problem-solving, data interpretation, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; initiative; attention to detail; discretion with sensitive/confidential information; experience developing enterprise-wide reports, preferably using Crystal Reports, Cognos, Tableau, or similar software; and interest in learning new technologies; and comfort mapping business activities to IT systems and services.  Must be able to collaborate as part of a team in a service-oriented environment and establish effective working relationships with colleagues/constituents; handle diverse tasks concurrently while meeting deadlines; synthesize, evaluate, and communicate information in a clear and cohesive manner; conduct investigative analysis; and approach tasks with an eye toward improved efficiency.  PREFERRED:  one year of developer experience with Tableau, experience with Ellucian Advance or other enterprise fundraising system and underlying DBMS, and experience in higher education advancement services, particularly prospect management and gift accounting.  Job #21890-6
