Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Agronomy

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £35,129 - £48,955 per annum (under review)

We are seeking an agronomist/crop physiologist to contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and post graduate courses and to contribute to research into crop agronomy, plant/soil interactions and regenerative agriculture. The appointee will be required to attract funding of their own and to produce suitable outputs (mainly reports, refereed papers, presentations). In particular, it is expected that the successful candidate will:

  • Take on and develop a programme of research covering crop physiology and optimisation of plant soil interactions to support cutting edge research in new cropping systems and regenerative agriculture. Encourage research in the area of crop agronomy, soil/plant interactions, plant health and vertical farming. Contribute significantly to the publication record of the group The post will include significant responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and you would be expected to lead modules in our undergraduate programmes, support the development of new modules and courses and contribute to supervision of research students. Be an excellent communicator with a record of knowledge exchange and a demonstrable ability to translate complex science into clear messages. Submit grant applications for external funding (e.g. UKRI and other research funders).

The successful candidate will have a degree of post graduate qualification in agronomy or crop physiology or equivalent. Good team ethos, attention to detail and communication skills are also required.

This is a permanent, full-time role.
