Job Description

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Senior Manager, Treasury, and Investments for the Accounting Department. In this position you will oversee the Treasury and Investment operations of the Accounting Department and 401K Plan for the organization. Managing daily functions, cash flow, treasury, and insurance relationships.

You will be responsible for:

· Managing and directing the daily accounting functions for treasury and investments, insurance, and the 401K program;

· Establishing and maintaining banking relationships and relationships with merchant vendors for payments received by the organization;

· Overseeing and directing the 401K plan and audit process;

· Managing the staff to ensure they achieve their goals, including providing staff with guidance and advice, training, performance management, leadership development, and career development;

· Directing and leading the year-end audit preparation and schedules for 401K plan and supports the consolidated financial statement audit;

· Providing oversight and approval in the process;

· Keeping abreast of trends relevant to the department’s operations and strategies and integrates appropriate measures to implement changes/innovations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another related field, or equivalent work experience, required. Master’s degree preferred;

· A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in accounting or another related field required;

· Management experience in a related field, which has included management and oversight of investments, treasury, or 401K benefit plans;

· Current CPA, CMA, or other accounting license preferred;

· Excellent math skills;

· Advanced knowledge of accounting procedures including knowledge of federal and state accounting regulations;

· Proficiency with modern accounting software preferred;

· Ability to lead and guide staff to meet department and organizational goals. Strong knowledge of staff management practices. Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff;

· Ability to set a positive tone for employees during their day;

· Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;

· Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

· High level of confidence, integrity, interpersonal skills, for effectively interacting with and influencing others;

· Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;

· Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
