Full Job Description
The McNamara Research Group invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to start in January 2023. The successful candidate will work with multiple research groups in the WQC and in Biology focusing on antibiotic resistance and microbial ecology in water reuse.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate on water and wastewater sampling, experiments, testing. Conduct metagenomic analysis and sequencing analysis. Help mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Co-author peer-reviewed journal articles and disseminate results at conferences.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Earned doctorate degree by May, 2023 (spring semester)
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in microbial ecology, molecular methods and/or bioinformatics to characterized mixed microbial cultures and/or to determine functional gene presence and number is highly desirable. Experience in virus/phage inactivation and/or quantification is highly desirable. Experience mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students in a research setting is desirable. Experience performing metagenomic analyses of mixed cultures is desirable.
