Class Description

The Coordinator, Student Web Portal has the primary responsibility for the long-term growth of a sustainable, well-managed student portal designed to increase student engagement, retention, and success.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field.  Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.  

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree required, degree in Communications, English, Marketing, or Journalism preferred.  Three (3) years of experience with online content development and publishing experience. Experience in online content presentation and in crafting clear, concise messaging while employing web standards. Familiarity with web design, publishing, and digital engagement strategies preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Ensures that content on the portal is accurate, up-to-date and consistent in terms of voice, style and use of organizational nomenclature.
  2.  Responsible for directly creating and updating content on the college portal as well as managing and coordinating the efforts of content contributors throughout the college to ensure that their work is consistent with audience needs, site standards and CCBC retention strategies.  
  3. Manage scheduled reviews, audits and updates to ensure portal is current, relevant and conforms to Web content best practices.
  4. Collaborate across the college to produce and maintain portal content that is engaging and supports the college’s mission.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Grow and develop the portal’s role within the college as it relates to student success to increase retention and completion.
  2. Create and update accessible and mobile friendly content on the student portal.
  3. Serve as the administrator of the portal sitemap, contributor accounts, and system configurations.
  4. Serve as the primary liaison with CCBC ITS, the portal vendor and other technical supports to manage and develop third-party integrations and other functionality.
  5. Build action plans to advance the development of the student portal in conjunction with other college priorities.
  6. Complete regular review of web analytics, student feedback, user-testing, and departmental input to refine and update the portal roadmap; develop systems and processes to determine and implement functionality that is relevant, and responsive to students’ needs.
  7. Serve as the primary contact/resource for resolution of portal related issues.
  8. Develop and manage processes to engage students through the communication channels available through the portal, such as bulletins, messages, notifications, chat, and groups.
  9. Collaborate with the Marketing Web Team to build and maintain an integrated content strategy and user experience between the student portal and the college’s forward-facing website.
  10. Ensure that content on the student portal is accurate, up-to-date and consistent with other platforms in terms of voice, style and use of organizational nomenclature.
  11. Continually refine and improve the design and usability of the portal in relation to web design best practices, user needs and expectations, and established CCBC standards for web content and visual identity.
  12. Work actively with other outreach areas to ensure consistent, clear, and focused communications to students related to student achievement and success.
  13. Create and maintain myCCBC application and design documentation.
  14.  Ensure portal contributors have the necessary training to adhere to CCBC content policies, procedures and standards.
