Summary of Position
The University of New Hampshire seeks applications for a Research Faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Research Professor level, working in the Ocean Process Analysis Laboratory (
OPAL). We invite applicants with experience in the fields of physical, chemical, or biogeochemical oceanography, as well as with observational platforms, in situ sensors, or satellite remote sensing. The candidate’s interests and skills should also complement existing strengths within
OPAL [https://eos.unh.edu/ocean-process-analysis-laboratory].
OPAL PIs are also affiliated with the
School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering.
SMSOE is designed to address today’s highly complex ocean and coastal challenges through integrated graduate education, research, and engagement. As such, it serves as an interdisciplinary nexus for marine science and ocean engineering teaching and research across the University.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. with 2 years of post-doctoral experience and demonstrated capability to acquire external funding and lead a scientific research program. EOS is largely a soft money research institution, and the candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous externally funded research program and raise his/her salary from external grants. While primarily a research appointment, graduate-level teaching and research interaction with students are encouraged.
