The basics of this position:

Under the direction of the supervisor, the Career and Technical Education Specialist performs all duties necessary to plan, coordinate, and integrate activities associated with retention and completion for Career and Technical Education (CTE) students across the district. In coordination with assigned academic departments and the College Registrar’s office, the specialist is also responsible for advising and assisting with semester course scheduling to promote student persistence and completion. This is a grant-funded position under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Grant.

What you'll do:

  • Works directly with assigned CTE department faculty and administrators to assist with student

retention efforts including:

  • Monitoring student progress
  • Identifying student needs
  • Connecting students with appropriate resources
  • Conducting outreach efforts to connect directly with students
  • Assisting students with academic planning
  • Assisting students with other College processes, as appropriate
  • Identifies common impediments to student success and proposes solutions.
  • Serves as an advisor for the District Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society.
  • Draws upon the services of Student and Academic Affairs units to assist students in resolving problems.
  • Assists with CTE grant and scholarship management.

Works directly with assigned CTE department faculty, administrators, and the College Registrar’s office to advise and assist with development of semester schedules of courses for the departments.

  • Follows all guidelines and requirements defined by the Registrar’s office, including

timelines, code specifications, and required fields.

  • Utilizes data from various systems to advise on development of department semester

course schedules to promote student persistence and completion.

  • Responsible for the accuracy of the College’s course schedule for assigned areas.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education, experience, and other requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of relevant full-time experience.
