Postdoctoral Research Associate

Food Science (University of Tennessee)

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Vermont P Dia at Department of Food Science, the University of Tennessee. The postdoctoral research associate is expected to focus on determining the role of sorghum phenolics on gastrointestinal health utilizing both in vitro and in vivo tests. The candidate is expected to conduct research projects of mutual interest, prepare reports to funding agencies, publish peer-reviewed articles, and mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers, where appropriate.


Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to have earned a Ph.D. in food science or a related field by the time of employment. Applicants shall have research experience in evaluating biological activities of food constituents, as demonstrated through research publications in high impact journals. Additionally, applicants must have excellent written and oral communications skills in English and be able to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • The position is available as soon as possible for an initial one-year appointment and renewal is based on performance and funding. Salary is based on experience and qualifications according to UT policy. In addition, UT provides an excellent fringe benefits package. Knoxville is located near the beautiful Smoky Mountains, has a low cost of living, and has a moderate climate.
