Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The postdoc will collaborate on existing funded research projects, develop research skills in their area of interest, and lead and support the dissemination of study results through the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts and conference presentations. The position is partially supported by a multi-site, NIH-funded, longitudinal study focused on word learning and reading achievement in children with DLD, dyslexia, or typical development. Additionally, the postdoc will have access to the lab’s extant databases, including studies of language, reading, and academic achievement in elementary-school-aged children using behavioral methods, eye-tracking, and/or EEG/ERP, and studies of vocabulary learning and reading comprehension in high school students
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Minimum Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders, psychology, child language, special education, linguistics, or other closely related discipline
- Two or more years working with children in a research or educational setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Expertise in time management, organization, and problem solving
- Familiarity with statistical software and analysis
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications (one or more of the following):
- Strong research writing skills
- Record of scholarship as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or conference presentations
- Experience with data management, data visualization, and statistical analysis
- Experience with eye-tracking or EEG data collection and analysis
- Experience programming with experimental control software
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The Postdoctoral Fellow must have skills necessary to collaborate with other team members. They must have experience in preparation of research manuscripts and conference presentations. The individual must have experience with data processing and data management. They must be capable of training and supervising research assistants. The individual must be capable of basic statistical analyses and translational research activities, including community information events.
