The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for Program Coordinator for Camp Hoblitzelle located in Midlothian, TX.
Job Summary
Coordinates, facilitates, schedules and monitors a variety of engaging activities and events for The Salvation Army- Hoblitzelle Camp, including but not limited to, the challenge courses, swimming, boating, team building exercises, etc.; monitors all activities to ensure needs of the participants are met and to ensure compliance with established activity plans as well as The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to monitor swimmers and provide surveillance of pool activities; respond to emergency rescue when needed. Ability to perform C.P.R. and first aid procedures in emergency situations. Ability to enforce pool rules. Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with children and youth. Ability to test pool water to ensure the proper chemical balance as well as the safety of the swimmers. Ability to prepare and maintain up-to-date pool records. Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies. Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to participants and staff. Ability to observe participants and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or G.E.D. And One year experience performing similar programmatic duties preferred Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Some physical requirements of the position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.
