We are looking for a Purchasing Officer to support our School of Applied Sciences with purchasing a variety of goods and services for the School and ensuring timely delivery to the end user.

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for the purchasing of goods and services for the School of Applied Sciences, ensuring the School continues to offer a high level of support to our staff and students. You will monitor and maintain adequate levels of materials, goods and office supplies, as well as more specialist procurement requests, to ensure stock levels are maintained at all times, whilst managing the effective administration of all purchasing activities.

You will use your extensive administration skills to ensure that all required documentation is received and collated in a timely manner, all invoices for goods received are processed appropriately and ensure that appropriate records of credit card transactions and authorisations are maintained.

As the point of contact for all the purchasing materials, goods, and supplies for the School, you will be able to use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships not only with our stakeholders, but also with our suppliers.

Please note, the role will include some lifting of goods to deliver to end users.

What we’ll need from you

Qualified with an HNC/HND or equivalent relevant experience, you will have:

  • Extensive demonstrable administration experience.
  • Excellent IT and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Highly numerate with knowledge of and experience in using Financial systems e.g. Agresso and/or experience of working in a Finance environment.
  • IT literate and experienced user of Microsoft packages, particularly Access plus Excel and Outlook.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills with confidence in communicating at all levels across the University, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with ability to problem solve and adapt to change.
