Job Description

CAD Tutor, 2022-2023 (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 19.5 hours per week)

Department: Downtown Campus, CAD Department

Rate of Pay: TUTR - $13.00 - $14.50/ hour

Closed Date: September 23, 2022; 5:00 PM Arizona Time

Position Summary:

Working in the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Department, the successful candidate will assist students in developing comprehension in the subject coursework and improve study skills and habits. Tutoring is provided either through one-on-one tutoring sessions, group tutoring sessions, or embedded in classes.

Software skills needed include Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, rendering software, graphic design / desktop publishing, and others as aligned with our construction concentration courses.

Responsibilities also include learning how to use software and equipment in areas such as virtual reality, augmented reality, additive / subtractive manufacturing, printers / plotters, and other emerging technology in order to assist students to safely and efficiently operate department resources.

This position is both in-person and virtual, the work schedule is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends. The hourly rate is based on certification level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist students by providing supplemental support for departmental courses
  • Review basic concepts, specific problems, homework, and test preparation
  • Recommend strategies for effective communication skills, textbook use, use of other course materials, and access to instructional resources in both virtual and in-person environments
  • Encourage positive self-confidence, efficient study habits, and healthy time management to increase their academic success and independence
  • Work individually or with groups facilitating professional interactions
  • Establish respectful and cooperative relationships with diverse student and employee populations
  • Report to CAD personnel any problems or concerns with equipment or materials
  • Communicate with CAD faculty trends in instructional challenges and student needs

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
  • Proven classroom excellence (grade A or B) in the subject(s) to be tutored, as exemplified by sample(s) of work and a transcript
  • List of three professional references for the subject(s) to be tutored

    • Reliable and stable internet connection
    • Computer
    • Webcam
    • Microphone
  • Tutors must complete CRLA level 1 certification within one year of employment

Preferred:

  • Tutoring Experience
  • Multiple subjects
