AIST seeks a FT Grants Program Coordinator

The Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) is a member-based, non-profit technical association based near Pittsburgh, Pa., USA, with members from more than 70 countries worldwide. AIST’s mission is to advance the technical development, production, processing and application of iron and steel.

AIST seeks a fulltime Grants Program Coordinator to join its Technology Programs department. This is a newly created position in the association with the opportunity for a growth-focused individual to build a standalone department for grant review, application, and management. The selected candidate will research and obtain grant opportunities for the association as well as coordinate current grant programs currently within the association. The incumbent will work closely with members of the Technology Department team as well as other AIST departments to ensure the highest-quality product.

Job functions will include:

  • Research opportunities for the association to engage in government grant programs
  • Coordinate and facilitate discussions for grant opportunities
  • Organize and submit any documentation and applications for grant opportunities
  • Coordinate project schedules, resources, equipment and information
  • Manage the overall grant programs within the association including:
    • Coordinate meetings and discussions with steering committees and boards
    • Assign tasks to internal teams and assist with schedule management
    • Act as the primary communicator between the association and the grant sources
    • Organize and submit documentation as required by the grant contract
    • Create and maintain grant program budgets, schedules, and project progress
    • Prepare agendas and activities for workshops or discussions for grant program development
    • Attend and facilitate meetings and workshops organized around grant programs
    • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports as required by the grant contracts
  • Design charts and information pieces for grant program information dissemination and review
  • Perform other duties as required for need by the Association

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, and/or technical writing/communications; and two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Solid organizational skills, multi-tasking and time-management abilities are critical as well as the ability to prepare and coordinate schedules, action steps, flowcharts and risk management. Teamwork and a people-oriented attitude are critical. Travel will be required as necessary to serve the needs of the grant program administration, Grant Workshops, and other AIST Events for the management of the grant programs.
