ABOUT THE JOB:
The Director of Marketing is a full-time position, reporting to the Executive Director. The DM creates and executes comprehensive marketing and communications plans to support the mission of The Bach Choir and achieve financial goals, while building strong relationships with our patrons. Leads the development and execution of all public relations strategies.


The ideal candidate should have demonstrated success in the creation and execution of a comprehensive marketing plan with measurable positive results. The individual should be skilled and flexible enough to take on new projects throughout the course of an annual season, and work with colleagues on a small team. This role works closely with The Choir’s graphic designer, who develops all graphic materials and supports the marketing and communications programs.


ABOUT US:
The Bach Choir of Bethlehem is the oldest Bach Choir in America, and celebrates its 125 th Anniversary this season. In addition to a core season of performances, The Choir produces its annual Bethlehem Bach Festival in May, ten free “Bach at Noon” concerts a year, and 8 “Bach to School” programs for students. Our Bel Canto Youth Chorus performs two concerts each season and also appears in Bach Choir Concerts. We’re continuing to evolve our programming, to include digital marketing and delivery to our audience. This role will be
largely responsible for positioning this new platform for success while maintaining and growing our in-person audiences at all performances. We are looking for a marketing director that recognizes the value of the Arts and is committed to building our audience and growing recognition for The Choir, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Deliver the revenue allocated to ticket sales each season
  • Oversee database entry
  • Responsible for all owned, earned, and paid media execution
  • Leverage The Bach Choir’s graphic designer as a primary source of materials and creative execution of strategy
  • Create and manage single ticket and group sales marketing campaigns and strategy including direct mail, radio, e-mail, print, and web/digital to achieve revenue and attendance goals working within approved expense budgets
  • Write, coordinate, and proofread marketing communications content that supports the overall strategy; oversee the development of all creative materials, including graphic design, copywriting, posters, program books, brochures/flyers, digital assets
  • Manage Administrative Assistant to create and execute all social media content, write and edit video (or supervise contract editor), update and refresh website and other develop other content as needed
  • Track and analyze ticket sales and oversee ticket pricing strategies
  • Lead all public affairs initiatives including drafting and disseminating of press releases, develop and maintain media relations and create cross-promotions with Arts (locally and regionally) and other organizations
  • Manage assembling lists and coordinating mailings with print partners and mail houses
  • Collaborate with Development Officer on the concert events strategy across the organization; work smoothly with entire Bach Choir team
  • Work evenings and weekends as concert schedule requires; responsible for selling tickets at every concert and overseeing the patron experience
  • Manage the House Staff of volunteers


THE IDEAL CANDIDATES ARE:

  • Strong writers and editors
  • Entrepreneurial, creative, and energetic; positive, organized, collaborative; ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, establish priorities, organize and handle a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient in and familiar with the following tools:
    • Microsoft platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Adobe Suite
    • PatronManager / Salesforce
    • Social Media; primarily Facebook and Instagram
    • WordPress (website)
    • Clip Champ / VEED video production
    • Constant Contact/ EMMA
    • YouTube

THE IDEAL CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • At least 5 years of prior marketing and communications experience, preferably in a non-profit and/or agency environment
  • Demonstrated and measurable success as a marketer having worked on marketing plan and/or campaign development and execution, media buying, creative direction and PR
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work tactfully and effectively with staff, board members, donors, volunteers, and community members
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, English or Arts Administration or at least 5 years of relevant work experience with progressively more responsible positions
  • Interest in promoting the Arts; interest in choral music a plus
